From Nature to Wall.

Founded in 1976 in the historic region of Flanders, Omexco has grown from a small export company into an internationally renowned Belgian Wallcovering Brand. We design & manufacture our wall decorations, blending traditional techniques with contemporary design. Whether printed, woven, or made from natural materials, each wallcovering is custom‑cut to bring tactile richness to interiors worldwide.

Since the beginning, we’ve cared deeply for both our craftsmanship and our planet. Through thoughtful exploration and refined processes, we aim to create exceptional products with minimal waste.

Our journey began when founder Bob Rans, originally exporting Belgian-made design objects to the Middle East, decided to take production into his own hands. Acquiring specialised machinery, Omexco produced its first wallcoverings using textile warps (fil‑à‑fil), a technique that gives the wallcoverings their tactile feel. With time, new colour combinations and patterns were developed, exploring the boundaries of the craft.

By the late 1980s, under the leadership of John Dubaere, we expanded beyond our own production facility collaborating with master artisans across Europe and Asia. The search led to handmade techniques and partnerships with small ateliers and introducing new natural elements like mica stones, cork, mother-of-pearl shells, barks & grass-cloths, enriching our collections with materials rarely seen in traditional Belgian production. This evolution marked Omexco’s transition from a single-product manufacturer to an éditeur & manufacturer.

Today, with over 40 employees and the next generation Dubaere, helping lead the way, Omexco continues to evolve by manufacturing and designing high-end wallcoverings.
