What is Mica?
Mica is a naturally occurring mineral with a layered structure that can be separated into extremely thin sheets. Its reflective qualities give it a distinctive, delicate lustre. Applied to wallcoverings, these mineral particles react individually to light. The result is not a uniform shine, but a surface with natural variation, depth and movement.
Crafting stone into walls
The mineral is expanded using heat and crushed into shimmering flakes. These particles are then applied to a backing, creating the distinctive mineral texture of the wallcovering. Different particle sizes, colours and finishing techniques create very different results: from fine and understated to rich and highly tactile.
At Omexco, mica can be left natural, printed, structured, embossed or combined with other materials. It becomes a canvas for design, where the irregularity of the mineral meets colour, pattern and craftsmanship.
